Remember JailbreakMe.com?

We all know that userland jailbreaks are not very common despite the recent Spirit jailbreak. Spirit is actually the first userland jailbreak since the iPhone 2G and iOS 1.x days. And I can remember a time when all you had to do was visit http://jailbreakme.com on your iPhone click a button and a few minutes later your phone was free. That was all the way back in 2007. Good times right? Well pretty soon a jailbreak might be just as easy.
The folks over at TWiiPhone were lucky enough to have @comex, @planetbeing, @ih8sn0w & @chpwn on their podcast tonight. During this interview the devs were asked questions pertaining to the next jailbreak. We now know that it isn’t called Spirit 2 and has nothing to do with Pie. But the most interesting jailbreak related news might have just been a simple side comment.
When asked what the most frustrating part of developing the next jailbreak was, one of the devs (i don’t know which one as the podcast was extremely disorganized and most of the devs sound the same) responded by saying he was working on the jailbreak site and was frustrated by “writing the javascript that detects what type of iPhone you’re on. Apple doesn’t make this easy and I’d like to thank everyone on Twitter that helped me out.”.
To most this probably seems like nothing but think about it. Why would a site need to know what type of iPhone you’re on? Now I may be starving for jailbreak info and pulling this out my a** but my guess is that we’re going to see another jailbreak that resembles the jailbreakme.com/appsnapp days. You visit a site, click a button and code is run on your phone to jailbreak it. Because we now have so many different i-devices they need to be able to determine which device you’re on in order to run the correct code. This mean that a vulnerability has been found in Safari which also means that Apple will close this up as soon as it’s released so beware of updates.
This is just my guess and if @comex, @planetbeing, @ih8sn0w, @musclenerd or any other dev wants to give me more info i’d gladly accept.
UPDATE: Towards the end of the podcast when asked when the jailbreak would be release @comex stated that @saurik just needs to finish the Cydia bootstrapping process. Something that lends to my belief of a website jailbreak exploit.
As always stay tuned to iEnthusiast for the breaking news. Follow @i_enthusiast and myself @ntrfc0.

wow thats a great guess

Yup., you caught that.. It was actually leaked by MuscleNerd a few days back by him saying "You wont need your PC or Mac for this jailbreak" Also chpwn was testing a javascript that would detect your iphone mode by visiting a URL, it was a public tweet. =]
